63rd Ann Arbor Film Festival - March 25-30, 2025

The Ann Arbor Film Festival is the oldest avant-garde and experimental film festival in North America, founded by George Manupelli in 1963. Internationally recognized as a premiere forum for independent filmmakers and artists, each year's festival engages audiences with remarkable cinematic experiences. The six-day festival presents 40 programs with more than 180 films from over 20 countries of all lengths and genres, including experimental, animation, documentary, fiction, and performance-based works.

FESTIVAL AWARDS

The AAFF offers approximately $24,000 in both cash and in-kind awards each year.

In addition to conferring prestige and financial support, an AAFF award can also qualify filmmakers for an Oscar® Nomination by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the short film category.

Qualifying AAFF awards include the Ken Burns Award for Best of the Festival, the Chris Frayne Award for Best Animated Film, the Lawrence Kasdan Award for Best Narrative, and Best Experimental Film. For more information, see the 2024 62nd AAFF award winners and a description of all the 62nd AAFF Awards.
