That is correct. At that point in time, it was the most filmed and most
photographed event ever (to use a somewhat awkward phrase), with coverage
from land, air, and sea. There was an interesting article about this in
American Cinematographer many years ago. The military codeword for the
test was Crossroads.

For what it's worth, Crossroads does not use Hiroshima
footage. The footage is from an underwater A-bomb
test at Bikini Atoll in 1946. The boats were just
dummies to see what effect the blast might have, I
believe.
