I'd like to second (third?) the thumbs up for RR. Also, I agree with Fred
that Naughts shouldn't be overlooked. Water For Maya... I have a funny
relationship with this film. I've seen it (on film...) at least three times
that i can think of off the top of my head. Every time I hallucinate very
vivid images of recognizable personages. Marilyn Monroe, JFK, etc.
How this is possible is beyond me. I'm a projectionist and if I happen to
have an extra minute I enjoy perusing the Brakhage hand painted works on a
light table. Unless I'm mistaken, there are no portraits of 60's personages
in the film. They certainly aren't mentioned in the description...
So anyway, as far as I'm concerned, I've never actually seen Water For Maya
and can't recommend it one way or the other.
Fire of Waters is relatively short and in my opinion amazing.
