Children? Better scene and not herd. I could never figure out how to
avoid falling into and getting stuck in some regular job (ugh) if
there were a wife and kids to support. (Problem is, I'm one of those
old-fashioned types who can't understand when women want to go back
to work 3 weeks after giving birth.) The old conundrum! which is
worse? the tyranny of the boss or the tyranny of the breadwinner?
Work is worse. I turned 51 in sept, raised a Catholic, can you
believe it? since I'm now the most confirrmed atheist on the planet.
Still playing out the string I picked up in March 1974 at the Marcel
Duchamp retrospective. This made academia anathema. What was it
Nietzsche said? We knowers are unknown to ourselves, all we want to
do is bring something back to the hive, real life is beyond us. No
academia, no corporata, no real art career, am I just a kept man
then? I did crummy janitorial type jobs for awhile, post office,
serious loafing, and then worked in libraries so I could raid the
collections for gold. Now I tune pianos. I make films, haven't had
one screened recently, last one was in '99 I think. Painter. poet,
indian chief--There's still a review of my painting show online at
artscope.net from '99. No MFA, or I'd be afraid my art would look
MFA'd.
