Try to catch this film (includes my "review" from seeing this during
the PDX Film Fest:
The Birdpeople, Michael Gitlin
Photography, which ranges from simple to superb, and a great sense of
play with the subject matter that eventually turns quite dark in the
way it deals with the subject of extinction. The portraiture included
in the film had a bit of the quality of Koyanisquatsi, but the
accompanying narrative made this film much more personal. I'd like to
see this film again, which says much for the film as I was originally
considering skipping it. One of my favorites from the festival.
Superb sound mix and foley work by Mercer Media that deserves special
notice (they might also have done the mix for Shelly Silver's video
which would mean two home runs in two at bats, at least in regard to
films screened during this festival).
