Film and Video Production Position
The Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature at The University
of Iowa is
hiring a Film/Digital Video maker with specialized competence in
narrative film and/or
videomaking. The position is tenure-track, at the rank of advanced
assistant or
beginning associate professor, full-time, academic year, beginning August 2007.
Our ideal candidate has several years' experience creating her or his
own films and
working with undergraduates. Candidates will teach fiction
film/videomaking as well as
screenwriting to intermediate/advanced undergraduates; they will also
teach graduate
students in our Film and Video Production MFA Program. Pre-requisites
include: (1)
MFA or equivalent professional/academic experience; (2) a record of artistic
accomplishment in screenwriting and/or in the direction/exhibition of
narrative film and
video; (3) a record of successful teaching; (4) teaching competence
in Apple Final Cut
Pro, video production, and 16mm film production; (5) teaching
competence in non-
fiction and experimental modes of film and video production.
Candidates with significant
credits in animation or experimental-filmmaking are encouraged to apply.
