To anyone on the list who happens to be in Perth, Western Australia
between the 9th and the 14th...
5th October, 2006
MEDIA ALERT
Emerging Perth-based artist Catherine Sharland will hold the opening
night for her first solo exhibition, Cinema Culinaire at KURB Gallery
on Tuesday 10 October.
Cinema Culinaire is an interactive projection piece that will see six
giant filmstrips installed in the KURB gallery allowing the human eye
to become the lens of an oversized 35mm projector.
The enlarged filmstrips detail the individual frames of a motion
picture that depicts local chef Csaba Sellei preparing chicken with
carving skills rarely seen by the Perth restaurant diners. The
individual images would comprise a six second film if they were shown
in motion.
This edgy piece is the first of its kind in Perth, and is an
excellent opportunity become involved with Catherine’s work, which is
highly regarded among many established Perth artists.
