Not Russian, but certainly Soviet (Armenian) are the films of
Artavazd Peleshian, many of whose films are made up of all or mostly
found footage. If you haven't seen them, they're worth tracking
down. (I can, off list, provide the name of a supplier, but my
attempts at buying a legit copy through FNAC in Portugal were foiled
several times.) For what it's worth his film schooling took place in
Moscow, so that makes it more Russian, right?
