I believe that film, made in Germany, is called Steelmill (in
English). An internet search turns up an informative post from Alain,
whom I'll quote:
"Richard Serra's films at MoMA (price list from fax
10/5/04)
1968-1979 (all 16mm prints)
Frame (1969, 22 mins) $50
Hand Catching Lead (1968, 3 mins) $35
Hand Lead Fulcrum (1968, 3 mins) $35
Hand Scraping (1968, 3 mins) $35
Hands Tied (1968, 6 mins) $35
Paul Revere (1971, 9 mins) $40
Railroad Turnbridge (1975-76, 17 mins) $45
Stillmill/Stahlwwerk (1979, 25 mins) $50
Tina Turning (1969, 3 mins) $35
These prices seem pretty reasonable to me. I mean,
considering that they are close to what I see at the
coops although maybe $5 to $10 more. "
I don't know of a Finnish equivalent. There is an excellent interview
with Serra and Weyergraf about the film you describe in October:
The Films of Richard Serra: An Interview
Annette Michelson, Richard Serra, Clara Weyergraf
October, Vol. 10, Autumn, 1979 (Autumn, 1979), pp. 68-104
In the interview, they discuss this film in great detail. This and
aother articles on Serra have been anthologized in the October Files
series.
Best of luck! Let us know how it is. I've yet to see any Serra films,
but I'm very interested. People whom I trust tell me great things.
