DLP vs. LCD projectors for live performance

Hi

I'm looking to buy a new projector (hoping for under or just over
$1000US) and am pondering DLP (more contrast and seems to be more
bang for the buck) vs LCD.

I tend to play in small to mid-sized rooms and am often projecting
behind the band from in front of the stage -- one concern with DLP is
that the rgb flicker from the lamp when seen from in front will be
even more annoying than an LCD. Another is temporal strobing.

Thoughts on the subject and specific recommendations appreciated. I'd
like a decent range zoom lens for setup flexibility.
