DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION AND FILMMAKER SERVICES
Chicago Filmmakers seeks a Director of Education and Filmmaker Services to
oversee and manage its education and member programs. This is a full-time,
salaried position. Chicago Filmmakers is a 33 year-old not-for-profit media
arts organization and is one of the leading media arts organizations in the
country.
Chicago Filmmakers offers high-quality but affordable classes in film and
video production, editing, screenwriting, directing, and more. Chicago
Filmmakers also provides services to the local independent filmmaking
community through equipment access, fiscal sponsorship, and other services.
The Director of Education and Filmmaker Services will play a significant
role in developing and expanding classes and services to continue to meet
the changing needs of independent film and video artists.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Education and Filmmaker Services is responsible for all
aspects of Chicago Filmmakers' education and filmmaker services, including
evaluating, recommending, and developing classes; developing class budgets;
organizing and scheduling classes; recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
instructors; maintaining classrooms and equipment; overseeing summer camps;
overseeing class registrations and member applications; maintaining records
and databases; fielding inquiries; developing new member benefits;
evaluating film production proposals for fiscal sponsorship and managing
fiscal sponsorship services; overseeing equipment rentals; overseeing
equipment maintenance; and any/all other aspects related to this position.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have previous administrative, educational service,
or not-for-profit experience; an undergraduate or graduate degree in
film/video production; working knowledge of film/video production and
equipment; film/video projection experience; working knowledge of Mac
computers and Word, FileMaker, Excel, and Final Cut Pro; the ability to
manage different projects simultaneously; good time management skills, the
ability to work on deadline, close attention to detail; good people
management skills; and good written and oral communication skills. Teaching
experience is highly desirable. It is also desirable that candidates have
their own vehicle.
The Director of Education and Filmmaker Services position is a full-time,
salaried position. Benefits include paid vacation and medical. Salary is
commensurate with experience. Starting date is approximately August 6.
