Hey, it's not high art - it's advertising.
Heh heh.
Name two images which couldn't be cut together with a quick flash of
black in between? Especially in ideological montage?
The black makes an automatic jump cut - anything to black, without a
fade.
It's so extreme, it automatically "works" in the classical continuity
sense because it's not confusing or disorienting - it's simply an
elimination of the previous image.
Then a new image appears, and this cut works too for the same reasons.
So it's technically two jump cuts but - not the jarring "bad" jump
cut in the continuity sense.
