Can't one reedit (if an edited peice- by which I mean in post
production and not in the camera nor a single take peice) or remix (if
a sound peice) as an update and change the finished date? I suppose
the whole ordeal is based on faith in the maker's word that it was
made within the past two years. There are projects based on gathered
footage over long periods of time (a decade, let's say) that are then
edited, or are edited all along those ten or twelve years that would
qualify for the two year reguation if the maker decided that it was
finally, at long last finished after so long gathering and editing,
even though the first permutation of it may have been ten years
earlier.
One of the things I mean to say is that the maker dictates "done." I
agree with wanting an unseen project to see the light of the screen,
but personally look back at films over two years old of mine and want
desperately to destroy them or alter them according to my now, thus
making them relevant to my current life.
