On another filmmakers' list, someone posted the following reply from
the Chief Librarian in response to a letter sent voicing concern.

It suggests that anyone with an interest in what happens to the Donnell
Media Center should write so that their concerns can be addressed in
the planning.

Dear

Thank you for writing about how much you value the Donnell Media
Center.  I
am very pleased that you and so many others benefit from the
collections
and services.  Your message has been referred to me for a reply.

This is a very exciting time for the Library.  The Donnell Media Center
  is
very valuable to the New York Public Library and the New Yorkers who
use
it.  In our new plans there will be certainly be an important place in
the
Library for the Media Center, its collections and services. Those plans
  are
not yet finalized and many options are being explored within the
Library,
including the new Donnell. Your comments are being shared with
planners.

The Library expects that you will be able to continue to use the
collections during our transition, plans for which are also  being
developed.  Staff from Donnell Media Center are part of the overall
Donnell
transition team.  As the plans are finalized in the next year, we look
forward to sharing them with you and our many other library users.

Thank you for your concern and taking the time to write.

Sincerely,
Anne Hofmann
