I am new to this list (though not new to experimental filmmaking) and suspect this question may duplicate recent discussions. If so, I hope someone will reply off-list.
I’m wanting to make high-def DVD copies of 16mm films both silent and optical sound. My preference would be to transfer directly to external hard drive and then author as far as I can on my own. I’m working on a Mac Book Pro with quite a lot of memory, have Final Cut Pro 5 and DVD Studio Pro 4, and understand that I will not be able to burn HD to DVD myself.
Am hoping to hear from someone who has been through this process successfully and could advise me.
Live in San Diego but would be willing to travel anywhere in the US to get a transfer that is right the first time. The lab I contacted in LA did not seem knowledgable or well set up for this work.
Thanks,
Ellie Epp
