Hello everyone!
The final deadline for PDX Fest submissions is rapidly approaching - Jan
18th! If you haven't yet submitted your work, now is the time! Or, if you
know any colleagues, students, or other folks who you think should submit to
PDX, please spread the word!
This year is already fixing up to be one of our best editions of the
festival yet, with multiple venues, a massive video installation exhibit and
some brand new participatory events - not to mention five full days of
excellent experimental and documentary cinema from around the globe! So
don't miss out!
Thanks!

Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival 2008:
Call For Entries!
Peripheral Produce's Seventh Annual Portland Documentary and eXperimental
Film Festival (PDX Fest, for short) is now accepting submissions for its
five-day exposition taking place April 30th-May 4th, 2008 in Portland,
Oregon.
PDX Fest is dedicated to showcasing new and innovative work in film and
video from around the world. Focusing on non-narrative work that goes
against the grain of mainstream entertainment, the PDX Fest is looking for
artistic, underground, quirky and challenging work that reflects
contemporary culture, documents historic oddities, and is otherwise
unclassifiable.
Experimental, documentary and/or underground work of all lengths will be
considered. Exhibition formats include 35mm, 16mm, Beta SP, and DV. Live,
multi-media and performance-based works with a strong film or video emphasis
are also encouraged to submit. We are also accepting video installation
proposals for the festival's satellite installation exhibit. Please see
submission guidelines for complete details.

Final Deadline: January 18, 2008
NEW SUBMISSION FEATURES!
We have updated our submission process this year and added a few new
features! First, we are finally able to accept credit card payment for entry
fees online via PayPal! Just look for the payment buttons on the main page
of our website ($1 transaction fee applies). Second, we are officially
accepting installation proposals for our popular video installation exhibit
held during the festival. There is a separate entry form for these
proposals with slightly different requirements so make sure you have
downloaded the correct form.
And finally, in the hopes of reducing the amount of waste we accumulate as a
film festival and minimizing our impact on the environment, we have greatly
simplified the submission process, paring it down to the bare essentials.
We are asking film and video entrants to send only their entry form and a
one page description/bio along with their submissions. As much as we love
seeing everyone's fancy posters, cool DVD cases, and awesome press kits, we
ask that for the sake of our environment (and our tiny little office), that
you refrain from sending such additional materials. If your film is
selected for the festival, press materials may be requested at that time.
Ultimately this will save you time and money with a simpler, lighter
submission package to mail off, while saving us the guilt-inducing task of
recycling or throwing out (when necessary) a massive load of additional
materials come the end of the festival. Please see the entry guidelines for
the full run down on submission materials. Thanks in advance for helping us
out with this!
More details on all these changes as well as the submission guidelines and
entry forms can be downloaded at
www.peripheralproduce.com<http://www.peripheralproduce.com/pdx_film_fest/2008/>.
Please read guidelines carefully before filling out your entry form!
See you soon!
