Wherein closed cans are ideal for stocks that are sensitive to the entire spectrum of light (panchromatic), such as Plus-X, Tri-X, Ektachrome, etc., the open tub method is fine for stocks that are NOT similarly sensitive (orthochromatic), such as hi-con 7363.
Hence, you can process under a red/yellow light, and see the images magically manifest right before your eyes! A womb with a view, if ever.
