I did an installation piece last year by simply playing a Quicktime
loop, two pieces sequentially, full screen out of a Mac mini into
23" Apple display.
The gallery attendant only had to double click the Quicktime (alias)
icon, you can set it up so it goes right in to Full screen mode (with
Loop checked in the menu and then CMnD-S (save) it will always loop.
To quit the attendant hits Escape and CMND-Q.
This was DVCPRO-HD (I would use ProRes now). But H.264 uses less disk
space than those (just takes a long time to encode).
This assumers a computer display but it's an easy way to do it with
readily available stuff.
