Scott,
Our current video release (available since October 2000) contains his
most popular films and a booklet with some of his writings. It is
available in PAL from Re:Voir and in NTSC from Gartenberg Media. But
we are working on a new release with twice as many films and two
Camera Three documentaries featuring Stan, one on his MovieDrome and
one on his early computer work.
This will be a DVD release first, available in a couple of months.
The quality will be less good than the VHS, but I imagine most people
don't care about that anymore. Distribution has come to mean quantity
over quality. I wonder what Stan V would have thought. In the
computer show, filmed in 1971, he says to the camera "within 30 years
our kids will be talking to each other over computer networks, and
making art with computers." If he were around now, he would be
telling us what our kids will be doing in 2038!
