With camera, animation and optical printing, Deborah Phillips
explores colors and images of Jewish tradition, the Middle East and
other parts of the world. The beauty, colors and the grains of film
play a prominent role, permitting contemplations of ornamental beauty
and, at the same time political reflections on cultural expressions,
and bridges between cultural roots.
Deborah who also works with painting, collage, collage of slides,
performance, and other media, uses film in very similar pictorial
ways "not making a difference between painting, film and other media".
