Hey all,

I know everyone except a select few decided to ignore this, but we desperately need help in getting this move and build done. If you don't know about LIFT check the about section on our website: lift.on.ca

If you can help by organizing benefits in your local region, making a donation or taking-out a membership it's what we need to get through this crazy time.

I'm currently working to raise $300,000 from public and private sources to make this happen and we are only a fraction of the way there. Anything people can do will help to keep the films getting made.

Thanks,

Ben

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM LIFT
The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto

July 11, 2008

Hello all,

I hope this message finds you and your film endeavours well.

LIFT
has a market niche as Canada's foremost artist run centre for
independent filmmakers wishing to create films on celluloid. It is a
custodian of equipment and specialized knowledge of that medium. To
ensure that emerging and established filmmakers have an opportunity to
work with celluloid, LIFT offers a variety of programs (workshops,
equipment rental, screenings etc) that empower filmmakers in that
medium. LIFT also acknowledges the validity of other film technologies,
such as digital and emerging hybrid media, and provides modest programs
to filmmakers who wish to create on other media. .

As some of
you will have heard, LIFT is moving to a new space this summer and we
need everyone’s help to make it happen. Over the next months, we will
be building-out our new facility at 1137 Dupont Street (at Dufferin)
and moving in during the process. As any of you who’ve worked on
renovation projects or moves know, the costs are steep and the workload
is intense. This is where you come in. LIFT is in dire need of your
help to make this move happen and enable us to continue our work in
cultivating, training and equipping filmmakers.

We are calling
on all former LIFT members and community supporters to renew your
memberships, or take out new ones, this July. Our goal is to sign up
1,000 new and renewing members by July 31, 2008. Your $70 membership
fee will give you one-year access to our equipment and programs and
help us ensure the continued existence of the organization. If you’d
like to sign up for a membership, please contact the LIFT office via
email (email suppressed) or phone 416.588.6444.

For membership details please visit our website at:
http://www.lift.on.ca/mt/membership.html

People
interested in doing more are also encouraged to make donations large or
small to the LIFT build fund. All donations are tax deductible, with
100% of your donation going to support the build. Donations can be made
in one of the following ways:

1. On-line donations can be made
simply and securely from the LIFT website at:
http://www.lift.on.ca/mt/archives/community_donate_to_lift.html

2. Cheques made out to LIFT can be mailed to:
- Before July 31: LIFT Build Fund, 171 East Liberty Street, Suite 301, Toronto, ON, M6K 3P6
- After July 31: LIFT Build Fund, 1137 Dupont Street, Toronto, ON M6H 2A3

3. Credit card donations can be made over the phone at 416.588.6444.

This is a critical time for LIFT and we hope everyone can lend a hand to make this happen.

Sincerely,

Ben Donoghue
Executive Director
