Hello Philippe,
just got this now, have been travelling, could send you a couple of DVDs asap if that would still be ok? I'm a friend of Pip, Jonas & co. who were telling me about the festival ...
cheers! Moira Tierney

Dear All,

The deadline for entries to the Lucca Film Festival’s international
short-film competition is arriving soon, next week – 10th of august 2008.
The Lucca Film Festival which takes place for the fourth time this year (10
October- 18 October 2008) is an annual celebration of independent and
experimental film & video featuring 9 days of screenings, lectures,
conferences and performances.

Having hosted greats like Kenneth Anger, Stephen Dwoskin and Michael Snow, the
festival is proud to present a major retrospective of Jonas Mekas’ works this
year, together with an homage to legendary actor Pierre Clémenti who was also a
prolific film-maker. We will screen some never-seen-before, astonishingly
beautiful 16mm material which Clémenti edited during a period of
artist-in-residency at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in the 70s.
We are also presenting Kiyoshi Kurasawa’s marvellous Cure-Charisma-Kairo
trilogy and a retrospective of films by the up-and-coming Brit-director Shane
Meadows. A special programme will be dedicated to Christian Lebrat’s cinema,
photography and performance art.

Special events also include a selection of short-films inspired by life and
works of the Lucca born composer Giacomo Puccini who would have turned 150 this
year. Among the filmmakers who have agreed to make a Puccini-short for Lucca are
legends of experimental cinema like Michael Snow and Jonas Mekas and also stars
of international art-house cinema like Tsai Ming Liang.

For the international competition programme we are looking for independent and
avant-garde artists’ films and videos completed in the last two years. So, if
you are a film or video maker, please send your tapes or DVD’s of recent works
for preview and consideration to the address below.
Further information on eligibility and regulations are on the Lucca Film
Festival web-site: www.vistanova.it

Looking forward to receiving your work!
With Best Wishes
