Re: post-views question

Yes. This film is very mysterious and dark and fascinating. Its placement towards the beginning if the series may have tended to obscure it in memory so thanks for bringing it up.

The concluding song in the film is "A Dream" by John Cale and Lou Reed. It's from their LP/CD, SONGS FOR DRELLA, a suite of songs on Andy Warhol, basically describing his life. I believe the singer/reciter of the piece in question is John Cale. That's probably him on piano as well (Reed sings a lot on the record and plays this ripping feedbacky guitar). The song seems to describe a lonely point near the end of Warhol's life when he was alienated from many previous friends and collaborators. So when the track refers to "John" and "Lou" (among others) it is the composers issuing rebukes to themselves ("nobody called..." is a chilling way to end that film and that first Views... program, and seems to suggest irreparable guilt that is left hanging in the air).

The entire album, SONGS FOR DRELLA by Lou Reed and John Cale, is excellent.

The other song I recognized in the film was "Lather" by the Jefferson Airplane. There was another, kinda Sinatra-type song at the films head that I did not know.

Hope that helps...
