Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center presents
Derek Jarman's BLUE (1993, 79min, 35mm)
TONIGHT at 8pm at the Market Arcade Film and Art Center

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Hallwalls' multi-disciplinary
series WAYS IN BEING GAY: WAYS IN/BETWEEN GENDER which was first
organized in November, 1988 by then performance curator Ron Ehmke.
This year we'll extend the month-long festival to a year-long series
of screenings, performances, literary events, and parties to
celebrate the anniversary. We begin this month with a tribute to
Derek Jarman. On November 6th, at the Market Arcade Film and Art
Center we will screen a 35mm print of his film BLUE. On November 20th
and 21st, at Hallwalls, we will screen Isaac Jullien's documentary
DEREK (2008, DV), made in collaboration with Tilda Swinton which
features many of Jarman's early super-8 films, as well as a never
before seen interview. To honor Jarman's love of gardening, the
screenings of DEREK will be fundraisers for Buffalo's Life Memorial
Park (located in Symphony Circle at the corners of Porter Ave, Norma
Ave, and Jersey St).
