You can get better image quality with a condenser lens instead of back
projection, or better yet, find a way to shoot right off the frame. If you
go through multiple lenses you risk aberration artifacts cuz the lenses
aren't made to correct on another. 1:1 apochromatic enlarging lenses would
be good to shoot off the frame.

You'd need a triggering system and a transport system. A modified projector
could work (something maybe hack in a DC motor with variable RPM to get the
framerate you want) as a source, apo enlargement lens, bellows, and camera
or intervalometer with some trigger connected to the mechanism of the
projector that is triggered by the film path or a shutter blade or the
infrared sensor or something.
