I would recommend Kelly Egan's "breath" and Izabella Pruska-Oldenhof's "Song of the Firefly" and "The Garden of Earthly Delights." Both of these filmmakers live in Toronto and could be considered "emerging." Their work is distributed by CFMDC: http://www.cfmdc.org
Re Bruce Conner: This might be a stretch, but maybe "Looking for Mushrooms" would fit into a program about horticulture?? Unfortunately, I don't thinks his films are currently in distribution, though perhaps somebody here can update the situation.
