Worm.filmwerkplaats Workshop Announcement.
(in t nederlands onderaan)
In collabaration with the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR 2009)
Worm.filmwerkplaats organizes a workshop by Bruce McClure: Riddle of the
Beast a Live Cinema / Optical Sound workshop
From Monday 26 till Wednesday 28 January 2009. Hours 10.00 - 17.00
The New York based film artist Bruce McClure will hold a 3-day workshop
focusing on an exploration of the film projector as a leading role in the
cinematic parade with film marching along ringing out the tunes. Under
guidiance of Bruce you will turn projectors into (both sound and image)
instruments. Using the workshop’s many 16mm projectors we can work with
multiple screens, loop projection and live interventions, even starting
with the simplest of images and sounds. We will become familiar with how
film projectors work and how they can be adapted for
different situations - and with the elusive qualities of light, as the
agent of both image and sound. There is an emphasis on optical sound, on
unusual methods for making sound such as with chemicals or photography
(converting images into sounds) or making the soundtrack directly by hand.
The results will be presented live as part of the IFFR 2009 closing party
at WORM on Saturday 31 January.
