i was thinking of what you get from a bolex's or k-3's vs the more modern arri sr's & aatons with a cooke or zeiss. (seems like i'm branding.. i'm trying not..)

2. yes, the surface of S16 vs 16 is not that much bigger, but the cameras you get to shoot S16 are so much better (arris and zeiss), and that makes a huge difference in accuracy, registration, and overall mood. i see it as a quite different thing.

"S16 only" A-minima aside (even there you could shoot std 16 altho optical center of the lens would be slightly displaced) they are the same cameras....    any Zeiss or other glass that covers S16 will of course be fine with std 16
