Mekas opening screening Tonight
Jonas Mekas is no doubt one of the greatest filmmakers alive. I wasn't a big
fan of the 365 project but he made a lot films that should and will go down
in film history. Last serious video work of his I saw was "A Letter from
Greenpoint"... What beautiful light, composition! A song sung on video!
This seems to be another great project. When Jonas mekas something over 4
hours, he always knows what he's doing.
My prejudice tells me "Lithuania and the Collapse of the USSR" is a huge
masterpiece...
Unfortunately, I won't be able to see it anytime soon because I live in
Istanbul.
Good luck with the screening and all...
