Microcinema International Announces 2009 Slate of Releases

2009 will see a myriad of compelling new releases from Microcinema
International DVD that will feature important artistic, political and
filmmaking figures including Luis Buñuel, Fidel Castro, William Eggleston,
Mona Lisa, Bill Plympton, Vermeer, Nero, and Frank Lloyd Wright!
Microcinema DVD also will be premiering their first Blu-ray Ambient Cinema
releases in early 2009! Here are some details about the 2009 lineup

We will be following the great success of Un Chien Andalou with two new
titles from master filmmaker, Luis Buñuel including Death in the Garden and
Las Hurdes.

 

We are very proud to announce the release of Fidel! A Personal Portrait of a
Political Phenomenon, directed by Saul Landau who had unprecedented access
to Fidel in 1969.

 

February 2009 will see the first ever Ambient Cinema Blu-ray DVDs released
by Microcinema: Baroque Motion, Volume One & Surrealist Motion, Volume One.

 

Microcinema will, of course, continue to bring you the very best in art and
artist-related documentaries including:
Ginevra's Story: Solving the Mysteries of Leonardo da Vinci's First Known
Portrait (A National Gallery of Art Film), narrated by Meryl Streep and
Isabella Rossellini.

 

Mona Lisa Revealed, a fascinating new exploration of the notorious and
mysterious masterpiece which will reveal 26 secrets recently discovered
within the painting!

 

Day is Done by art 'rock-star' Mike Kelley.

 

Grace Hartigan: Shattering Boundaries, a fascinating documentary about one
of the art world’s most courageous figures of the Abstract Expressionist
movement.

 

William Eggleston: Photographer - an in-depth look at the legendary
photographer and how he developed his signature style.
