Since any standard projector is running on a non-sync motor, this will almost always require changing the motor(s).
That said, there are lots of ways to handle this -- with selsyn motors, line-locked motors, etc. I've seen two projectors running on ONE motor with a chain link drive.
But in short, be prepared for some heavy lifting -- mechanical and/or electronic.
