In a world where it has become a global quotidian pastime to shatter and
remold the archaic definitions of terms such as 'president' 'hero'
'terrorist' 'leader' or 'revolution,' we find ourselves on an urgent quest
for new information on some of the most iconic figures of our time
Coinciding with the release of Steven Soderbergh's epic re-examination of
"El Che" Guevara's life, Saul Landau's 1968 documentary offers viewers a
very rare glimpse of Fidel Castro in what can perhaps be called his most
uninhibited and unrestricted state ever caught on film. Those who aspire to
fully grasp all elements of the Cuban Revolution and its current affect on
modern day society should not miss this film.
A personal profile of Castro and a view of the developments since the
revolution a mere ten years before, Fidel! gives a rare glimpse into
everyday life of the Cuban people and its leader. Whether listening to
complaints at a collective farm, playing baseball with the locals, or
discussing Marxist revolution, Castro’s charisma is present in every frame
and, like him or not, lends understanding to why so many call him “The
Giant.”
Extras Include:
- Director’s Commentary
- Short Subject, Saul Landau’s 1974 “Fidel + Cuba”

This film will take you on an extraordinary journey into the word of the
Surrealists as the life and accomplishments of the surrealist collector,
poet, and architect Edward James unfolds. For the last 20 years of his life,
aided by 40 full time laborers and craftsmen, he built one of the biggest
and yet least known architectural monuments of the 20th century, dedicated
to Surrealism and hidden in the jungles of Mexico. Born into extreme wealth
and luxury (he was rumored to be the bastard son of King Edward VII), he
turned his back on the rigid aristocratic circles of Edwardian England, and
befriended, supported, and collaborated with fledgling artists who would
become household names in later years. Those artists included Salvador Dali,
Leonora Carrington, Rene Magritte, Kurt Weil, Bertolt Brecht, George
Balanchine, Aldous Huxley, Man Ray, and Sigmund Freud. Although he has been
called “A legend among the legendary”, only a few people recognize his name
or know of his artistic accomplishments.

never sold a painting in his life, but when Marguerite needs a miracle, he
is able to create a masterpiece. His enchanted almond blossom will save the

Join Claude Monet in his adventures through his enchanted garden at Giverny
as he learns to celebrate the spirit of sharing and the magic of children at
play. When Monet’s selfish gardener bans the children from playing in the
lush gardens, spring refuses to come and a harsh and tireless frost
prevails. Monet is confused about why his beloved garden remains cold and
lifeless and grows depressed having nothing beautiful left to paint. One
day, the children, led by a remarkable little boy, sneak back into the
garden, spreading bursts of spring everywhere. But the little boy who warmed
life back into the garden disappears as mysteriously as he came. It will be
many years before Monet rediscovers the boy, and in the process discovers
something even more beautiful than his gardens. Inspired by one of Oscar
Wilde’s classic fairy tales and set inside some of Monet’s most stunning
paintings, In Winter Still is a feast for the eyes and imagination.
