POSITION 1FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY, School of Communication and Multimedia Studies, is seeking an Assistant Professor, tenure track, in Computer Animation/Digital Media, to teach courses in the School's Multimedia Studies degree program, which includes an emphasis in Film, Video, and New Media. The School seeks a scholar of digital art and new media practice with expertise in 3D animation. Ideal candidates will cross media platforms and demonstrate knowledge of and research interest in animation and motion graphics, gaming systems, interactive visual narrative, user-centered design and the social implications of technology. Candidates must be able to offer instruction in computer-assisted modeling, animation and rendering, and have considerable knowledge of character modeling, character rigging, 3D environments and interactivity. Applicants must possess a high degree of technical competency to participate in partnerships with art, entertainment,
 science, and/or industry and must possess practical skills in more than one of the following: storyboarding, 2D drawing, character modeling and environmental design, animatics and compositing. Candidates must also be skilled in a range of software packages, including Maya, Final Cut, Shake, Nuke, zBrush, Photoshop, Premiere, 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, Softimage and Cinema 4D. Additional experience with web development, mobile media, interaction design, game engines, Motion Builder, Python, or other software scripting (MEL) is desirable. Effective date of employment: August 2009. MFA or Ph.D. required; preference will go to candidates with active exhibition history, significant practical experience in an active production environment, as well as teaching experience.
