I think I have some Bartosch observations on working with soap as the
drawing medium for L'IDEÉ in his multiplane animation set-up (ala or cf
Iwerks'). I'll see if I can dig them out.
As for Fred's advances, his point is well-taken. THE (The Holcus Effect)
revealing the 3D information previously suppressed in conventional (2D) film
- I don't see it as an advance; rather a re-positioning of the relation of
the moment of capture to the condition of being optically human as a
cameraperson, which removes some mystification in the process of viewing the
resultant enhanced film, and adds an intriguing tint of reality to the
already highly faux representational medium.
