Assistant Professor: Digital Media
The School of Art & Art History at the
University of Oklahoma seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant
Professor level working in technology-based art and digital culture. The Media
Art program prefers a candidate with experience in one or more of the following
areas: internet art, interactive art, programming for interactive or virtual
environments, technology related performance and/or installation. We welcome
individuals who demonstrate conceptual sophistication, contextual sensibilities
and a multidisciplinary orientation to teach both undergraduate and graduate
students. The candidate will be
expected to be actively involved in teaching, research and creative activity,
as well as service to the School, University and professional community.
Specific
requirements include an MFA or equivalent degree and a demonstrated record of
creative activities. Teaching
experience beyond the graduate level is preferred.
Qualifications:
* MFA or equivalent
* Three years of university/college teaching experience in media education desirable
* Competency in one or more of the following areas: internet art, interactive art, programming for interactive or virtual environments, technology related performance and/or installation
* The successful applicant must also demonstrate a commitment to media art education, ongoing professional creative research, teaching and curriculum development and excellent communication skills
* Demonstrative ability to organize, coordinate and work with a diverse faculty
* Ability to develop a curriculum appropriate to digital arts
