I've been traveling with 2x16mm projectors in the skies lately and I always
carry 'em on. I've got an Eiki SSL-0 and an Eiki SL - either of 'em will
fit in the overhead compartment (the SL barely makes it) or under the seat
in front of me. I have a small cart that I bundle them on to get to the
gate, and I've thus far not had any problems bringing both on board.
I'll second Andy's sentiment as well - finding a good projector when
traveling is certainly possible, but I wouldn't count on it. I don't really
trust that freight or baggage handling is going to take good care of my
projectors either, which is why I always carry 'em on.
