The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival screened more alternative and
experimental documentaries in 2009 than ever before, and Frameworkers should
consider it a possible venue for any interesting non-narrative work. In
2009, we hosted a Bill Brown retrospective and performance, in addition to
work by Bill Daniel, Deborah Stratman, Penny Lane, Harrod Blank, J.D. Wilkes
and others. We also screened a wide range of topics including mash-up remix
culture, urban exploration, the Skatopia community and other alternative
topics.
One of the oldest and most prestigious documentary festivals in the world,
with a reputation for showing Academy Award films and high-profile
documentaries, we are now doing what we can to bridge the gap between
alternative forms of storytelling and more traditional formats.
