Yes, that should work! I used cameras that have been modified in this
way with no problems. I haven't taken the sprockets out of a Bolex
myself, but I think they are held in by set screws on the side and
should come out easily. (???)
The trick in filing off the teeth is not to damage the inside edge of
the sprocket (the part that would touch the edge of the film). I'd get
some kind of thin metal piece, cut out a semi-circle, and make a shim
to fit between the teeth and edge to protect it while you go at the
teeth. You don't have to worry about getting the area where the teeth
were perfectly smooth, just getting the teeth all the way off. (The
film won't actually touch the sprocket there...)
Though I wouldn't put a lot of money or complicated labor into a Bolex
of that vintage, it's certainly well worth trying a simple mod like
this. Good luck!
