Festival of Sonic Art taking place in the Reid Concert Hall, Bristo
Square, Edinburgh.
5th - 7th November 2010
Call for Works:
/_Driven to Abstraction_/
/The longer you look at an object, the more abstract it becomes,
and, ironically, the more real./
/Lucian Freud/
Soundings Festival is issuing a call for audiovisual works
exploring the combination of electroacoustic composition and
experimental video. The theme of this concert is the relationship of
the abstract to the real. Submissions should illustrate the idea or
process of deriving abstract audiovisual work from a real image and/or
sound.
Selected works will be performed at the Soundings Festival of Sonic
Art in the Reid Concert Hall, Bristo Square, Edinburgh during the
weekend of 5th - 7th November 2010.
The performance venue allows for stereo diffusion of the audio
component of the works. Please indicate with your submission if you
would like your submission to be diffused by the event curator or if
you would prefer a standard balanced stereo playback. Diffusion scores
may also be submitted with the work.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Work must be a maximum of 20 minutes in length.
Audio must be stereo format.
Works should be submitted as .avi or .mov file on data DVD.
THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2010 AT 5PM.
Entries must include:
Full contact details (name, address and email)
2 jpeg images (300dpi resolution)
/Note that submissions will not be returned, but will be added to
the Soundings audiovisual archive./
