Matt: should films that are funded by grants then belong to the awarding body? What about the collaborative nature of filmmaking?
What about filmmakers who are dead and left no estate?
Why is it that some filmmakers anxious to embrace new imaginary and exciting forms of experimental film appear to be beholden to traditional notions of copyright and ownership rather than exploring new ways of distributing and owning work?
Why the emphasis on USA copyright law in so much of this discussion?
