Hi brook
When nathaniel was in Toronto for wavelengths he told the anecdote
that part of the reason he chose silent speed as his preferred
projection speed was it made the sound of the projector in his living
room less abrasive. So while showing his films without a booth might
not match your theatrical experiences, it will get your students
closer to experiencing the films like nathaniel's own first viewings.
Probably doesn't hurt students to experience the sonic difference of
film either.
I find that making sure the sound is well amplified from the front of
the space draws some attention away from the clatter of the projector.
Best
Chris
