Re: End of the Ann Arbor Film Fest?

The no human waste on religious symbols seems to be in reaction to
"Piss Christ." However, IIRC, the African Madonna that Rudy Guliani was
so upset about had enameled elephant turds around it. So, it is
surprising they left an animal loophole.

The "no depictions of flag desecration" would rule out a documentary
showing those evil Islamo-fascists burning our sacred Old Glory! Wonder
if those right wing twits thought of that angle?

But exactly what are "Displays of sex acts?" Would it be a sex act that
was "on display," in the context of the film? A sex act in a private
room, in a film, isn't exactly a "display." So, maybe it has to be a
public sex act, in the film? And, what exactly is a sex act? Is
urination? Is giving birth? Surely it couldn't be just a head shot of a
couple, doing it? Or, could it?

At any rate, no avant garde experimental film festival can accept such
restrictions. But, it won't mean the end of the Ann Arbor Film
Festival. It will mean the loss of a major chunk of funding, adding to
the head aches the AAFF already has. Perhaps it will push the AAFF BOD
into doing some real, serious, long overdue, fund raising.
