Hello,
It has been a long time since I have been on this list... but I wonder
what Cocteau could have imagined when he made the famous quote about
"film" and "art" and the tools becoming as affordable as pen and paper.
I don't have the quote in front of me, but I'm quite sure he referenced
"film" and "affordable" and I would conjecture that any form of moving
media, if it became affordable, was how he framed his thought.
Certainly, filmstock doesn't fit that category, nor most film cameras.
So, personally, I could care less what I am called, but I have worked in
film, and I work in digital media... and I am a filmmaker, as the word
"film" is a concept... but perhaps that comes from having worked in most
moving media, and having gained skills from the legitimate film
disciplines, but carrying those over into digital and non-linear
constructs.
just a thought.
