I still claim you can, in a useful sense, transmit a film. Scan -
digitize - send - transfer - back to film - make a print.
Done with sufficient quality in the digital sampling and film-out,
the process can essentially be transparent.
Are all Digital Intermediates of 'transparent quality' ? No, but I
don't think it's anything like unreachable....
Last week Arri showed 65mm negative scanned with an Arriscanner and
electronically projected via 5 2K DLPs - ~ 10 Megapixel image.
Personally I think to call this "video" in the same sense as a VHS
tape played back on a TV set is bordering on a rather useless sense
of the word video.....
