As a fan of films from the 30s and 40s, I know I've seen this in more
that one film from the era. I'm afraid my memories on this subject are
too vague to be of much help. I seem to recall Cary Grant doing it in
one film, and maybe Joan Crawford, but I don't know which film(s). If a
film title comes to me, I'll get back to you. If I have time, I'll poke
around on the IMDb, and see if it that sparks something.
