At the recent Bologna, Italy film festival, Il Cinema Ritrovato, the judges awarded the following prizes in the
Il Cinema Ritrovato DVD Awards 2006. Approximately 17 DVD releases received awards, in categories such as Best DVD, Best Bonus Features, Best Rediscovery, Best Series, Silent Film, and Experimental Film.
Jurors were Peter von Bagh (Artistic Director, Il Cinema Ritrovito), Alain Bergala (cinema critic), Mark McElhattan (independent Film and Video Curator), Paolo Mereghetti (cinema critic), and Jonathan Rosenbaum (cinema critic).
Best DVD: Entuziasm, Dziga Vertov, Union Sovietica, 1930 - 2 DVDs - Osterreichisches Filmmuseum (Austria). A further note in the PR: contains 2 differently synchronized versions of his masterpiece as well as an extended lecture-demonstration by Peter Kubelka of the reasoning behind his resynching of sound and image
