Frameworks Decade and Beyond

Hello all,

Does anyone have any recommendations for other lists, blogs, or message
boards that feature healthy discussions of experimental film? I don't plan
to sign off of Frameworks, but it is clear that I'm going to have to
supplement my diet with other sources.

It occurred to me that I've been on Frameworks (off and on) for about 10
years. Thanks to everyone who has been very helpful and supportive on this
list, especially when I posted more actively back in the day.

But a few recent threads have made me question how useful Frameworks is
these days. It remains great for news, event and new release announcements
and the This Week in Avant-garde listings (again, thanks to everyone who
keeps the rest of us in the loop). But it seems like there are too many
reasons not to initiate threads or participate in existing threads. Too
often I find myself asking: "Why the hell is this in my Frameworks mailbox,
and why did I open it?" In fact, I just thought that again today, which
prompted this post. I have to assume that I'm not the only one of the 500
people on the list who feel that way (it used to be that high, I don't know
the current numbers).

I remember meeting people who knew me from Frameworks but I didn't know them
because they were "lurkers," people who only read and never posted. I
realize I have now become a lurker myself, and I really miss the "good ol'
days." I also remember thinking that it would be great once I started
teaching avant-garde courses to have my students to sign up to Frameworks to
learn as much as I did in the first few years. Now I don't feel that way at
all. In the past I've used the Frameworks archive to help with some
research questions. I can't imaging doing so for many of the discussions in
the past few months.

I have to assume that many of the discussions that would have been active a
few years ago have migrated to other lists, blogs, and so forth. I also
assume that a lot of people who have migrated elsewhere or started their own
blogs remain lurkers on Frameworks. Any leads would be appreciated.
