Thanks for the great info-- my memory is obviously failing, but at least I
was right about the venue.
 
That was a good year for Filmex-- I was at the 'Karl May' showing and it was
lots of fun. Nice to hear Brakhage was there. The Plitts were a fantastic
place to see these films, too-- totally first class for the time. I was very
sorry when those theaters went.
 
One of the things I remember about Filmex was that they were always able to
get a hold of nitrate prints of some amazing movies, particularly from Disney,
 who I heard actually lent them an impossible-to-get seen print of 'Victory
Through Air Power' one year. Did they ever end up getting it shown? That used
to be the holy grail of Disney films because of its possible public domain
status for many years. They wouldn't even let their own employees borrow it.
 
Anyway, that's a nice bit of research.
