007: Acts and Actions
Portland Film + Video Artists Collective

The Portland Film + Video Artists Collective will curate a program of
film and video works that directly address the time-based nature of
media. PFVAC seeks single-channel works under ten minutes in length
that present repeated or sustained gestures, or document a change by
or through duration. All manner of experimentation is actively
encouraged. Acts and Actions will screen at Zero Station contemporary
art space, Portland, Maine, on 7 June 2008.
An illustrated exhibition catalogue will complement the screening.
Please submit:
• Name / address / email / phone
• Artist statement and bio
• Works under 10 minutes in length (formats accepted: miniDV, Super 8
silent, 16mm sound or silent – miniDV reviewer screeners accepted)
• Entry fee of $5 per submission
• SASE for work to be returned; otherwise work will be held for
consideration in future programs

Acts and Actions is the seventh event of the Portland Film + Video
Artists Collective. PFVAC formed in July 2006. It is committed to the
advancement of film and video as personal, experimental art forms
through regional and international programming. Celebration and
preservation of creative freedom is paramount in all actions. PFVAC
has presented five events thus far, including: Dan Graham visiting
artist talk (October 2007), PFVAC + SPACE: New Projections +
Installations (September 2007), Portland - Syracuse One Take Super 8
Event with visiting artist Brett Kashmere (April 2007), Peter Gruner
Shellenberger Retrospective (March 2007), and Premiere Showcase
(October 2006). 006: PFVAC Fresh Works, a DVD compilation of film and
video by PFVAC members, is scheduled for March 2008 release.
