hi Shelly,

I have some early work that includes scenes of animal slaughters
(shot in latin america - people were preparing food, i just happened
to be there with a camera). i don't show these works much any more,
because audiences usually walk out on them.

i also have some recent work that uses vintage pornography,
especially scenes of solo girls performing for peep shows or stag
film audiences. lots of feminist power issues intended here.

not sure if this addresses any vein of what you had in mind. write
to me off-list if interested.

the other thing that comes to mind is the video work of artist
Gillian Wearing in which she uses extreme true-confessional scenarios
that are disturbingly embarrassing to watch - not sure if she or
anyone who knows her is on this list. i definitely see issues of
power - the power inherent in voyeurism, in exhibitionism, etc. (as
well as the power of the medium itself to isolate and exaggerate the
dynamic ) - in her work.

good luck with your research.

enjoy today...
